June 2026 — a year out, which is when the town is actually taken

The hotel market here is a year ahead of every other race on the calendar: Le Mans is a city of 140,000 absorbing a quarter of a million people. If the centre has gone, the answer is not a worse room in Le Mans but a TGV from Paris or a car from Tours.

Getting there

The TGV from Paris Montparnasse takes 55 minutes and runs all day, which is why Paris is a real option rather than a last resort. Book the train the week the tickets open: the Saturday morning services fill before the race does.

From Le Mans station, tram line 1 runs south to Antarès/MMArena; from there it is a signposted walk to the circuit gates. With a car, approach from the south and expect the roads around Arnage to close before the start.

Flying in: Charles de Gaulle has a TGV station of its own, so you can reach Le Mans without crossing Paris.

Questions

When does the 2027 race start?
The 95th 24 Hours of Le Mans runs 9–13 June 2027. The race starts on Saturday 12 June in the afternoon and finishes at the same hour on Sunday 13 June.
Can I do it without a car?
Yes, and it is the better plan. Stay near Le Mans station and use tram line 1; the car is only an advantage if you are sleeping south of the circuit.
Is staying in Paris mad?
No. Fifty-five minutes on the TGV is less than the drive from many Le Mans hotels once the roads close, and Paris has rooms in June when Le Mans has none.
What is there to do before Saturday?
Scrutineering in the Place des Jacobins early in the week and the drivers' parade on the Friday evening, both free and both in the city centre.
How many nights should I book?
Three, Friday to Monday. The race finishes mid-afternoon on Sunday and the roads out do not clear for hours.
